How We Support Kids and Teens with Scoliosis
Personalized, exercise-based care for scoliosis and spine concerns in Vancouver.
Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine that measures more than 10 degrees, and it often shows up or changes during growth spurts. Finding out your child has scoliosis can bring up a lot of questions. Kids Physio Group - Vancouver, Fraser St.'s physiotherapy team is here to help you understand what's going on and what you can do about it.
We start with a full assessment of your child's posture, spine, strength, and movement. From there, we build a plan using Schroth-based exercises, breathing techniques, and posture awareness tailored to your child's curve, along with a home program they can keep up with between visits. If your child is already working with a physician or wears a brace, we're happy to coordinate with their care team.

Every spine is different, and so is every plan. Here's how our Fraser St. team supports kids and teens from Mount Pleasant, Riley Park, and across East Van with scoliosis and posture concerns.
Schroth-Based Scoliosis Care in Vancouver
Exercises Built Around Your Child's Curve
The Schroth method is an exercise-based approach to scoliosis that uses three-dimensional postural exercises, specific breathing patterns, and body awareness to help your child find a more balanced posture. We tailor every exercise to your child's curve pattern and teach them how to fit their routine into everyday life, from sitting at school to sports practice. Once your child's program is underway, virtual follow-ups are also available.
Kyphosis, Posture & Spine Support in Vancouver
Support Beyond Scoliosis
Not every spine concern is scoliosis. We also see kids and teens with Scheuermann's kyphosis (a forward rounding of the upper back), postural concerns, and low core strength. Our physiotherapy team can assess what's going on and build a plan to help your child sit, stand, and move more comfortably.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find out the answers to some of the questions you may have before booking with our Fraser St. team.
Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine that measures more than 10 degrees. It's often first noticed during a growth spurt, sometimes as uneven shoulders, hips, or waistline. If you've noticed any of these signs, or your child was flagged at a screening, an assessment is a good next step.
The Schroth method is an exercise-based approach to scoliosis. It uses three-dimensional postural exercises, breathing techniques, and body awareness that are tailored to each person's curve pattern. Our physiotherapy team uses Schroth-based exercises as part of a plan built around your child's goals.
If your child has had an x-ray and hasn't been seen by our team for scoliosis or spine concerns before, start with a Schroth, Scoliosis and Spine Physiotherapy Initial Assessment. Follow-ups can be booked in person or virtually after that.
Yes. If your child is already seeing a physician or wears a brace, let us know at their first visit. We're happy to coordinate with their care team and factor their brace into the plan.
